
iMSPORT.TV – Fourteen countries have confirmed their participation in the pencak silat sport, which will be contested for the first time at the 2025 Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Bahrain.
Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art from Indonesia, will be one of the most exciting sports at Asia’s largest youth sports event.
According to the OCA’s official website on Tuesday, the 14 participating countries are host Bahrain, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The competition is open to young athletes aged 14–17, with three categories: men’s 51–55 kg, men’s 59–63 kg, and women’s 51–55 kg.

The participation of pencak silat at the 2025 AYG is historic and significant in expanding the reach of Indonesia’s cultural heritage sport in Asia.
According to the schedule, the pencak silat competition will be held earlier on October 19–20, before the official AYG 2025 takes place on October 22–31 in Bahrain.
Previously, the 2025 Asian Youth Games Organizing Committee added pencak silat and kurash to the list of sports to be competed in, increasing the number from 24 to 26.
Yusuf Duaij, Chairman of the 2025 Asian Youth Games Executive Committee, made this announcement while receiving a visit from Indonesian Pencak Silat Head Coach Teddy Suratmadji, along with representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in Bahrain, at the organizing committee headquarters in Seef, Bahrain.
