iMSPORT.TV – Chef de Mission (CDM) for the 2025 SEA Games, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, expressed optimism that the intensive preparations for pencak silat will allow him to achieve his target of seven gold medals in Thailand.

We are confident, after witnessing the training firsthand, that Indonesian pencak silat can once again become the overall champion at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand,” Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono told the media at the Indonesian Pencak Silat Padepokan, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday.

CdM and his staff directly observed the national training camp of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) at the Indonesian Pencak Silat Padepokan.

The visit was the first in a series of on-site monitoring activities for the preparations for the sports that will be competed at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December.

Bayu said that his party deliberately chose pencak silat because it is a sport that belongs to and is the identity of the Indonesian nation.

During his visit, Bayu witnessed the training process firsthand and discussed it with officials from the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI), the coaches, and the athletes.

He is confident that the pencak silat team will once again achieve brilliant results at this year’s SEA Games, as the team has prepared well through intensive training. Furthermore, several of the athletes participating were also gold medalists at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

He said the athletes are very enthusiastic and ready to achieve success in the upcoming largest multi-sport event in Southeast Asia.

They (the athletes) are optimistic about achieving high results, and one athlete even stated that he wants to win a hat trick of gold medals. The response from the athletes has been very positive,” he said.

Meanwhile, PB IPSI Daily Chair Benny Sumarsono stated that his team will do its utmost to ensure that pencak silat maintains its achievements at the SEA Games.

We don’t want to speculate. The bottom line is, we are striving to provide the best for the athletes and for Indonesia at this SEA Games,” he said.
