The 2025 SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20. This will be Kim Sang Sik’s first SEA Games with Vietnam.
The Indonesian U-23 national team, the defending champions, will once again be favored as a contender in this event.
Vietnam itself failed to defend its title at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, winning the bronze medal after losing to the Indonesian national team in the semifinals.
Despite this, Vietnam coach Kim Sang Sik openly stated that he would “wrest” the 2025 SEA Games gold medal from Indonesia. According to Bongda, Kim Sang Sik is undaunted by the pressure of winning.

According to the South Korean coach, Southeast Asian football is highly competitive because many teams are strengthening thanks to naturalized players.
“A coach must aim for results. Achievement is indeed pressure, but it also motivates us to progress,” said Kim Sang Sik.
Kim Sang Sik, who will coach Vietnam starting in 2024, admitted that he is starting to enjoy being the coach of the Golden Star Warriors.
Since last year, Kim Sang Sik has led Vietnam to victory in the 2024 AFF Cup and the 2025 AFF U-23 Championship.
“Now that I’ve adapted, I’m enjoying a happy life as a coach,” said Kim Sang Sik.
