iMSPORT.TV – Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir stated that Indonesia is targeting 120 gold medals at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, which will be held in Thailand in January.
“We previously stated that the target for the ASEAN Games is 120 gold medals,” said Erick Thohir after a meeting with the Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC Indonesia), Senny Marbun, and his staff in Jakarta on Monday.
He stated that the 120 gold medal target is to secure second place in the ASEAN Para Games. He said this target is quite realistic, considering that Thailand, as the host, also wants to win the overall championship.
“Thailand, as the host, is very aggressive because they definitely want to win. Their target is approximately 174 gold medals,” he said.

The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that, given the current competitive landscape, second place is a reasonable target. Setting this target demonstrates openness, without any hesitation or shame.
“Therefore, we need to reflect together on our future preparations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Reda Manthovani, Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, explained that preparations for the event were relatively short, taking only three months.
The national training camp for athletes preparing for the ASEAN Para Games has been underway since last October and will run until December.
Manthovani stated that 306 athletes are being prepared to compete in 18 sports.
“We hope to maintain our target of 120 gold medals,” he said.
In the last two editions of the ASEAN Para Games, Indonesia emerged as the overall champion: the 2022 ASEAN Para Games Indonesia with 175 gold medals and the 2023 ASEAN Para Games Cambodia with 159 gold medals.
