
iMSPORT.TV – Bahrain has begun warming up ahead of its role as host of the 2025 Asian Youth Games, set to take place from October 22 to 31, 2025, in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia.
The multi-sport event, the 2025 Asian Youth Games, has started its countdown to showcase the best young athletes from across Asia. More than 5,000 male and female athletes aged 14 to 18, representing 45 National Olympic Committees from across the continent, will take part.
At the 2025 Asian Youth Games, athletes will compete for medals in 24 sports, while also seeking qualification for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
The Bahrain Olympic Committee has named the kingdom’s participants in five sports so far – athletics, 3×3 basketball, jiu-jitsu, badminton, and E-sports.
Bahrain’s competitors in athletics, which will include track and field as well as cross country, are Salah Rashid, Yousef Ayman Rizq, Talal Nawaf Al Dossary, Ebrahim Al Adeeb Bukhari, Irfan Mohammed Ismail, Sayed Ahmed Zuhair, Khalifa Yousef Mubarak, Shaikha Ahmed Mubarak, and Maryam Salman Ateeq.
The 3×3 basketball squad features leading youth national team talents Somto Patrick Onoduenyi, Hassan Abdulkadir, Divine Tochukwu Abochi, Ali Hussain Mahdi, Yousif Yaqoob Meshaei, and Hussain Fuad Ghuloom.
In jiu-jitsu, Bahrain will be represented by reigning European champion Pedro Bisi de Jesus, Yousif Mercer, and Hamad Fuad Waheed.
The kingdom’s shuttlers who will be going for gold in badminton are Ali Al Ashoor, Sayed Ebrahim Khalil, Fatima Al Sayed Ebrahim, Noor Fardeen Ali, and Zainab Ali Suwaid.
Bahrain teams gear up for Asian Youth Games
Flying the Bahrain flag in E-sports are Hussain Ali Al Jowder, Mohammed Khalid Al Yaqoobi, Nasser Aqeel Ismail, Sayed Ali Alawi, and Yousef Fawaz Ghaleb.Aside from the abovementioned sports, the others that are a part of the Games’ exciting multi-day programme are volleyball (indoor and beach), road cycling, equestrian (endurance and showjumping), futsal, golf, handball, Muay, judo, kabaddi, mixed martial arts, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling (indoor and beach) boxing, triathlon, weightlifting, teqball, swimming, and camel racing.
The Games’ official opening ceremony will take place on October 22 at Exhibition World Bahrain, which is one of the key venues of the event. The inauguration will be held indoors for the first time, diverging from the traditional outdoor settings of previous editions of the Games, which were held in Singapore in 2009 and China in 2013.
Seven sports will commence prior to the inauguration. These include boys’ futsal, handball, and volleyball, starting on October 19, followed by girls’ futsal, kabaddi, teqball, and beach volleyball, all beginning on October 21.
The final day of the Games on October 31 will only feature men’s and women’s swimming events and their awards presentation, alongside the official closing ceremony.
