iMSPORT.TV – The Indonesian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team carved a new chapter in history at the Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2025 held in Manama, Bahrain.
In their debut appearance at the continental multi-sport event, the young Indonesian fighters delivered an impressive performance, securing four bronze medals a historic milestone that signals the growing strength of Indonesian MMA on the international stage.
The four bronze medals were earned by Manayra Magani, Bumi Magani, Satria Eka, and Gibran Alfarizi, who competed with remarkable determination and courage throughout their bouts.
President of the Indonesian MMA Federation (PB Pertacami), Tommy Paulus Hermawan, described the achievement as more than just a medal tally, calling it a reflection of the athletes’ character, dedication, and disciplined development process.
“This is not only about four bronze medals. It’s about the unyielding spirit and exceptional discipline of our young fighters,” said Tommy.
“They have trained tirelessly since mid-2024 through a continuous national training camp program in collaboration with the Faculty of Sports Science at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.”
Four Medals Mark the Rise of Indonesian MMA on the Asian Stage

According to Tommy, the success in Bahrain proves the effectiveness of PB Pertacami’s long-term development system, built on experienced coaching, scientific training methods, and mental as well as physical conditioning.
Meanwhile, Marcos Tulio Machado, head coach of the Indonesian MMA team, praised his athletes for their strong showing and fighting spirit.
He believes that although the team has yet to reach the top of the podium, the performance demonstrated that Indonesia’s young fighters are technically and mentally competitive with Asia’s best.
“Technically, they are not inferior to other strong Asian countries. What we need is more international exposure,” said Marcos.
“But in terms of mentality and fighting spirit, our athletes are extraordinary, they fight with heart.”
Marcos emphasized that the experience at the AYG will serve as a crucial foundation in shaping the resilience and character of Indonesia’s next generation of MMA athletes.
Following their success in Bahrain, PB Pertacami is now setting its sights on the next major challenge — preparing the senior national MMA team for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
“The Asian Youth Games are just the beginning of a long journey. Our next focus is the SEA Games,” Tommy affirmed.
“Pray for our athletes to bring home the gold and make Indonesia’s anthem proudly echo across Thailand.”
The four bronze medals from the Asian Youth Games mark not the end, but the beginning of Indonesia’s rise in Asian MMA.
With unwavering youthful energy, structured development programs, and growing international experience, the future of Indonesian MMA shines brighter than ever.
