iMSPORT.TV – Indonesian women’s singles player Janice Tjen was emotional after defeating the ninth seed, Veronika Kudermetova, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Monday (August 25) early morning.
The 2022 Asian Games bronze medalist couldn’t hold back her tears. Ranked 149 in the world, Janice was overwhelmed as her strategy with her coach worked to perfection.
“I still can’t process my emotions right now after finishing the match, but I’m happy to move forward. A little emotional, but very happy,” Janice said in her post-match interview, as quoted on the official US Open website.

“I shed a few tears. My coach and I haven’t really talked after the match; he just said he was proud of me and happy that our planned strategy worked well,” she revealed.
In the second set, Janice tried to raise her level of play but made a few errors. However, she managed to stay focused and composed in the third set to secure the victory.
Next, Janice will face Emma Raducanu, the world No. 36 and former US Open champion four years ago.
