Indonesia joined the ranks of nations producing Olympic gymnasts last summer, when Rifda Irfanaluthfi (INA) delivered her Uneven Bars routine in just under 60 seconds at Paris 2024. One year after Irfanaluthfi’s historic milestone, her country is preparing to host the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025 Jakarta, a week-long celebration of the sport.

A soft pink floor exercise mat—blending the red and white colors of Indonesia’s flag—will serve as the centerpiece at Arena Indonesia, Jakarta, from October 19–25. On that mat, and across the surrounding apparatus, new world champions will be crowned as Olympic stars and rising challengers compete for 12 world titles.

6 Reasons You Must Watch the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025 Live

The World Championships in Indonesia’s capital—home to the second-largest metropolitan population in the world after Tokyo-Yokohama marks the first time the event has ever been staged in Southeast Asia, and the first on the continent since Kitakyushu (JPN) hosted in 2021. While Jakarta is a newcomer to Artistic Gymnastics, the city successfully hosted the 2018 Asian Games, and in 2023 welcomed the Brick Parkour Asia tour.

As usual, the top 24 gymnasts will advance to the All-Around Final, with a maximum of two per nation. The top eight per apparatus will also move forward to the event finals, again limited to two per country.

Jakarta ready for historic 2025 Gymnastics Worlds. More than 600 athletes from 86 countries will compete, with a total of nearly 1,500 participants, including officials and supporters. Registration will close on the 20th of July. The event itself is scheduled to take place at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan, Jakarta, from the 19th to the 25th of October.

Usually, around 70 countries participate in this world championship. This time, 86 countries have registered. This is a record,” Yuliati said to the press in Jakarta on Tuesday, 8th of July.
