Alwi Farhan Aims for 2025 SEA Games Gold

iMSPORT.TV – Indonesian men’s singles badminton player Alwi Farhan is ready to bring gold to the Indonesian nation at the 2025 SEA Games. He will strive to maximize his previous experience.

Alwi is one of 20 badminton players selected by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) to participate in Southeast Asia’s largest multi-sport event from December 9-20.

This is his second time participating in the Indonesian contingent. The difference is, this year, he has the opportunity to be the first men’s singles player.

First of all, I’m happy, thank God, to be included in the SEA Games team again. It’s an honor and a responsibility for me, too. If I were playing as the first singles player, I would definitely feel responsible to contribute points,” said Alwi when met at the PBSI National Training Center in Cipayung, East Jakarta.

We will definitely give our best in every match because we have previous experience, and I will learn from it. I will try to maximize what I have gained,” he said.

Compared to Malaysia and Thailand, Indonesia arguably fields a predominantly young roster. However, that hasn’t dampened the 20-year-old’s ambition. His experience winning the Macau Open and facing several top players has equipped him to compete with the best singles players from other countries.

Everything is also tough because I’ve mapped out my first singles opponents from Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Loh Kean Yew, Leong Jun Hao, and Nguyen Hai Dang have been mapped out for a while now, and I can see their progress and mine too. So when I play in the SEA Games, I won’t be surprised,” said Alwi.

Targets are something to strive for, and if they don’t, well, that’s okay, but at least we tried. But I’m ready,” he said.

As for ambition, the target is definitely gold, even though we don’t know the outcome. We will definitely fight as hard as we can, and I trust my team. So there’s nothing to worry about; we’ll just keep fighting,” Alwi asserted.
