iMSPORT.TV – Indonesian rising star Janice Tjen delivered a stunning performance in her WTA Tour 250 debut, defeating seventh seed Leolia Jeanjean of France in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 on Monday (Sept 8, local time).
The 23 year old Jakarta native dominated the match from start to finish, firing five aces and converting 80% of her break points (4/5). Jeanjean, meanwhile, struggled to find answers and failed to register a single ace, converting only one of four break-point opportunities.
This victory comes on the heels of Tjen’s remarkable Grand Slam debut at the US Open 2025, where she shocked 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova in the opening round. Although her campaign ended in the second round against Emma Raducanu, Tjen made history by ending a 21-year drought for Indonesian women’s singles players at Grand Slam events the last representative being Angelique Widjaja at the 2004 US Open.
