iMSPORT.TV – Ita Yuliati, Chair of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, revealed that preparations for the 53rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on October 19-25, are 60% complete.

Forty percent is just a matter of days, two months away, God willing. And we have received significant support from the government, the National Olympic Committee (NOC), and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI),” Yuliati told reporters after attending the opening of the Olympic Movement in Action (OMIA) at the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in Jakarta on last Friday.

Yuliati stated that 501 participants from 83 countries will currently participate in the official qualifying event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

We have confirmed that several gold medalists from the World Cup in the United States, as well as from the Philippines and Brazil,” Yuliati explained.

Yuliati added that this number of participants is final, as registration closed on July 20.

The Indonesia Arena is equipped with a lighting system that meets international standards. However, for artistic gymnastics events that require special lighting, additional rigging is needed.

FIG Technical Commission Coordinator, Donatella Sacchi, has personally inspected the Indonesia Arena. She assessed that Indonesia has made significant improvements in its preparations for the world championships, both in terms of facilities and technical support.

She compared Indonesia’s current facilities to her visit in 2018, where she deemed the Indonesia Arena to meet European standards and be highly suitable to host the world championships.

Now it’s just a matter of selling tickets and promoting this event domestically and internationally. This is the first World Championships in a new cycle. There will be previous world champions and a new generation competing. We also hope that Indonesian athletes will compete and receive strong public support,” Donatella said last April.
