iMSPORT.TV – The 2025 SEA Games Committee has released the number of athletes each country will send. Indonesia is said to have 1,548 athletes.
Indonesia will be the third-largest country with the most athletes, if the number remains unchanged. Host Thailand will be the largest with 1,807 athletes, followed by Malaysia with 1,580.
“The detailed number of participating athletes is Timor Leste (132), Brunei (250), Laos (598), Vietnam (1,019), Myanmar (1,077), Singapore (1,481), the Philippines (1,499), Cambodia (1,515), Indonesia (1,548), Malaysia (1,580), and Thailand (1,807),” the official 2025 SEA Games website states.
Therefore, the 2025 SEA Games is predicted to attract 12,506 athletes from 11 participating countries. Furthermore, 6,253 officials will be participating.
On the one hand, the number of athletes is still subject to change. This is because official registration with each athlete’s name is still ongoing until September 1st. The draw for each team sport will then be held on October 18th or 19th.
SEA Games Thailand : Indonesia Sending 1,548 Athletes
“The ‘Entry by Name’ stage for each country with a list of athletes must be registered by September 1st. The draw for team sports will then take place between October 18th and 19th,” states the 2025 SEA Games website.
To date, the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports has not released the number of athletes who will be participating in the 2025 SEA Games. However, training camps for each sport are already underway.
This includes national selections for three sports: table tennis, boxing, and sepak takraw. These three sports are currently facing issues at the national federation level, so the government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is working to find the best athletes to send to the 2025 SEA Games.
The 2025 SEA Games will be held from December 9th to 20th. The 33rd Southeast Asian Games will take place in three main cities, namely Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
