iMSPORT.TV – The 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Jakarta: Sets Record Number of Participants. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, Ita Yuliati, stated that the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, held at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, from October 19-25, will set a new record, with 86 countries registered to participate.
“Usually, around 70 countries participate in this world championship, and this time 86 countries have registered. This is a record in itself,” Ita said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Of the 86 countries, more than 600 athletes will compete, with a total of nearly 1,500 participants, including officials and team supporters. Participant registration has closed on July 20.
“From there, we will know the exact number of participants and participating countries,” Ita added.
As the 100-day period approaches, Indonesia, as the host, continues to refine various aspects of preparation, from arena readiness and technical aspects to budgeting and national team training camps.
“We have coordinated with the GBK management and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to ensure the rigging and lighting systems at the Indonesia Arena are safe and meet international standards,” Ita said.
Regarding funding, the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation has prepared a Budget Plan (RAB) with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Approximately 40 percent of the technical requirements have begun to be realized.

Previously, FIG Technical Commission Coordinator Donatella Sacchi, who personally visited the Indonesia Arena, assessed that Indonesia had made significant improvements in its preparations for the world championships, both in terms of facilities and technical support.
“Indonesians are very friendly. Your hospitality is a hallmark that has reached the highest level,” said Donatella during her recent visit to the venue.
She also compared Indonesia’s current facilities to those she visited in 2018. She stated that the Indonesia Arena meets European standards and is highly suitable to host the world championships.
“The venue was already there, but now you have an extraordinary arena. The lighting is very adequate, even more than sufficient for producing the best quality television broadcasts,” he said.
With these preparations, Donatella believes Indonesia only needs to focus on promotion and ticket sales to ensure the championships gain full public support.
“This is the first World Championships in a new cycle leading up to the Olympics. Previous world champions and a new generation will be present. We also hope that Indonesian athletes can perform and receive extraordinary support from the public,” said Donatella.
