2025 SEA Games Sports Review Ministry of Youth and Sports Conducts Analysis of Thailand SEA Games Medal Targets

iMSPORT.TV – The Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora RI) has completed a review of 52 sports (cabor) in preparation for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The results of the sports review are currently being analyzed to map medal targets.

The Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surono, stated that the review was conducted by a team consisting of experts, sports practitioners, representatives from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), and the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC). This was done to ensure that performance targets were measurable and data-based.

We are currently analyzing the potential for maintaining a top-three finish. Every target we set must be based on data. We must be able to compare existing data, identify potential opponents, assess their positions, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of our athletes,” Deputy some time ago.

2025 SEA Games Sports Review: Ministry of Youth and Sports Conducts Analysis of Thailand SEA Games Medal Targets

Deputy Surono stated that Indonesia will lose at least 41 potential gold medals. This is because many sports that were Indonesia’s top contenders at the previous SEA Games will not be contested at the 2025 SEA Games.

The potential gold medals that will be lost include fin swimming, kung fu, vovinam, soft tennis, pencak silat, wushu, cycling, esports, wrestling, kickboxing, dragon boat racing, karate, sepak takraw, cricket, and judo.

However, Deputy Surono explained that Indonesia will gain an additional 32 potential gold medals from sports that were not contested at the 2025 SEA Games. These include rowing, canoeing, archery, equestrian, shooting, woodball, sport climbing, waterskiing, skateboarding, chess, mixed martial arts, and modern pentathlon.

Although Indonesia could potentially lose 41 gold medals, it still has the opportunity to gain additional potential from sports that were not competed in the previous Cambodian SEA Games,” said Deputy Surono.

Therefore, Deputy Surono hopes that the sports currently undergoing training camps ahead of this year’s SEA Games can maximize their performance and improve their performance.

Currently, the review team is conducting analysis and undergoing a gradual process. The principle is that we provide good service to sports federations. We hope that athletes participating in national training can improve their performance,” Deputy Surono concluded.
