iMSPORT.TV – The 2025 World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta will make history as the first event to implement artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), Morinari Watanabe, stated that the introduction of AI technology will be a defining feature of the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.
“In the arena, you will see gymnastics integrated with AI. With this technology, everything becomes easier to understand and more transparent,” said Watanabe during the “NOC Indonesia Welcoming Reception” in Jakarta on Wednesday (Oct 15).
AI technology will be applied to the scoring system, allowing competition results to be accessed quickly and transparently by the public. Watanabe noted that Indonesia is fortunate to host the world championships at a time when this innovation is being introduced for the very first time.

He also praised the rapid progress of Indonesian gymnastics since it began developing eight years ago. The upcoming championships, he said, are expected to mark a turning point for the sport, especially now that Indonesia boasts world-class facilities.
“(Hosting the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships) is like a launching pad. One day, these Indonesian gymnasts will surely win medals,” he added.
The 2025 World Gymnastics Championships will take place from October 19 to 25 in Jakarta, featuring around 490 athletes from 77 countries. Participants have started arriving and training at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) before the official podium training begins at Indonesia Arena ahead of the event’s grand opening.
