Indonesian Skateboarders Aim for Two Gold Medals at 2025 SEA Games

iMSPORT.TV – Indonesian Skateboarders Aim for Two Gold Medals at 2025 SEA Games. The Indonesian Roller Skate Association (PB Perserosi) is targeting two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals from skateboarding at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, which will be held from December 9–22.

The target is for two events: men’s and women’s street and park. The target was set after observing the athletes’ improved performance during the national training camp (Pelatnas), which has been underway since May.

“Skateboarding is an urban sport that is now popular among young people, and Indonesia is capable of competing at the international level. We are proud to see the extraordinary potential of these young athletes and hope they can bring home gold medals for Indonesia,” said Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2025 SEA Games, in an official statement on Saturday.

He also revealed that three Indonesian skaters, Basral Hutomo, Sanggoe Darma Tanjung, and Wayan Malana, reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Skateboarding Tour (WST) World Cup in Rome and Ostia, Italy, last June.

This demonstrates their ability to compete at the global level.

Bayu also ensured that all the athletes’ training needs and facilities were met so they could train optimally.

“We want to ensure adequate training facilities and infrastructure. Coordination with the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the national federation continues to ensure optimal preparations for the SEA Games,” he said.

National skateboarding team coach Tony Sruntul revealed that the athletes have shown rapid progress in recent months.

Two female athletes, Nyimas Bunga and Mikhayla Shanum, recently won first place at the Australia Bowl Competition. In comparison, two male athletes, Sanggoe and Basral, placed first and second at the King of Kuta Open in Bali.

“From the tryout results, the athletes’ performance has improved significantly. We continue to maintain their optimal condition, especially since most of them are still teenagers and have great potential,” said Tony.

The Indonesian skateboarding team will consist of eight athletes, including one as young as 11 years old.
