iMSPORT.TV – Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 Without Israeli Athletes. The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation has reaffirmed its position in line with the Indonesian government and the people regarding the participation of the Israeli delegation in the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships (Jakarta Gymnastics 2025), which will be held at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, from 19–25 October 2025.
Since being appointed as the host, Gimnastik Indonesia has communicated Indonesia’s official stance to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) concerning the diplomatic relations among participating countries, so that adjustments could be made according to Indonesia’s situation and conditions. One of the countries with which Indonesia has no diplomatic relations is Israel.
“This is an official FIG event, and Gimnastik Indonesia serves as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). All regulations, systems, registrations, and decisions related to participating nations are entirely under FIG’s authority,” said Ita Yuliati, President of Gimnastik Indonesia.
In accordance with Indonesia’s position and considering the current global situation, the FIG Executive Committee, in its meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday (10 October), decided that Israeli athletes will not take part in Jakarta Gymnastics 2025.
“Alhamdulillah, FIG supports Indonesia’s stance. This support is very important because the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation always adheres to the constitution and prioritizes the safety of athletes and all delegations of the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. Therefore, we can firmly state that Israel will not compete in this event,” Ita emphasized.
With the situation now clear, Ita encouraged all parties to contribute to the success of the event and make it a milestone in the development of gymnastics in Indonesia.
Regarding the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza, Gimnastik Indonesia also firmly supports all efforts to bring about peace.
“We continue to pray for peace to soon prevail in Gaza,” Ita concluded.
Meanwhile, responding to the developments surrounding Israel’s potential participation, Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), expressed respect for the decision.
“The decision was made after careful consideration. There are greater interests at stake ensuring that the World Championships proceed safely, orderly, and successfully for everyone,” Okto stated.
The FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships has been held since 1903, with the first edition taking place in Antwerp, Belgium. Jakarta is the first city in Southeast Asia to ever host the prestigious event in its long history.
