New Rule in SEA Games 2025 : No Naturalized Players in Basketball Events
The organizing committee of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand is committed to prioritizing local (pure) players from each participating team.
“So they (the committee) prioritize local players who can play, which is why we are considering searching for young players who can be projected to play,” said Nirmala.
According to him, the stock of Indonesian basketball players consists of competent and high-quality players. Because the Indonesian national basketball team squad that won the SEA Games 2021 in Vietnam is still relatively young, such as Abraham Damar Grahita, Yudha Saputera, and Muhamad Arighi.
Additionally, several other good players, namely Ali Bagir, Julian Chalias, Ari Daffa, Pandu Wiguna, and others.
The rule prohibiting naturalized basketball players in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand is certainly different from the FIBA standard, which allows one naturalized player.
