iMSPORT.TV – The Indonesia Men’s 3×3 Basketball National Team has officially begun building its strength in preparation for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. A training camp has been underway at GOR POPKI Cibubur, East Jakarta, since September 1, 2025.
According to the team’s manager, Johanes Christianto Nawawi, the camp involves 10 selected players who earned their spots after passing the national selection held on August 12–13, 2025, at the same venue.(adm/amr)
The DPP PERBASI initially called up 24 players, chosen based on monitoring by the National Team Committee and assessments of the squad’s needs for the upcoming SEA Games.
“These 10 players were selected from a pool of 24 after the national tryouts,” Johanes explained.
“They will be evaluated further during the training camp and will form the long list for the SEA Games.”
Experienced Core Meets Young Talent
Among the 10 players, two veterans bring valuable experience to the team. Muhammad Sandy Ibrahim Aziz and Surliyadin, silver medalists at the 2019 Manila SEA Games, are expected to play key roles. Back then, they helped Indonesia secure the runner-up spot alongside Oki Wira Sanjaya and Rivaldo Tandra Pangesthio.
Also on the list is Nickson Damara Gosal from the Tangerang Hawks, who represented Indonesia in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games. The roster is further strengthened by promising young talents like Halmaheranno Hady, Justin Jaya Wiyanto, and Jonathan Patrick Alex.

Road to the Final Four
The squad will continue training until December 2025, when the final four-man roster will be announced. To sharpen their skills, the players will face domestic test matches as well as international tryouts.
“We’ll compete in the 3×3 Challenger Manila at the end of September and then head to Taiwan for the 3×3 Challenger in early October,” Johanes revealed.
“In Taiwan, we’ll also have additional test matches against two local teams.”
Johanes added that the composition of players for these overseas tournaments may vary depending on the team’s needs and each player’s progress during training. The final decision lies with head coach Fandi Andika Ramadhani.
Domestic Matches and Final Preparations
After returning from international tryouts, the team will focus on domestic test matches in November 2025, competing against several Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) clubs as part of their final preparations.
“By the time we enter these local test matches, the training camp will have reached its final phase,” Johanes explained.
“We’re working on improving the team’s game system, strategic play, and physical conditioning. We’ll also conduct intensive skill drills and recovery programs to ensure the players remain fresh and at peak performance.”
With a mix of veteran leadership and rising young stars, the Indonesia Men’s 3×3 Basketball Team is determined to assemble its strongest lineup yet as they chase SEA Games glory in Thailand next year.
