iMSPORT.TV – Indonesian women’s national futsal team coach Luis Estrella emphasized that his squad is confident of reaching at least the semifinals at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
He explained that his team has the quality to compete at the highest level, despite combining experienced players with several young talents.
“To face the challenge, we have to think big and be ambitious but remain humble,” said Estrella after the national team’s training session at Anfa Arena, Jakarta, Friday morning.
Estrella assessed that the players showed positive development during the training camp. He emphasized that a dominant mentality in every match is the main foundation for the team to achieve its set targets.
The Spanish coach stated that Indonesia needs to play aggressively from the opening match against the host nation, which he called a crucial test in the journey to the top four.
According to Estrella, the hard work during training has put the team on the right track to prepare better.

He emphasized that ball possession, intensity under pressure, and the ability to control the rhythm of the game are aspects that must be continuously improved to match the strength of competing countries in Southeast Asia.
“We want to be a team accustomed to facing high pressure and possessing better ball control,” he said.
Estrella added that every match in the upcoming SEA Games must be treated like a final, especially after the group stage.
o that end, she added, the women’s national futsal team has been undergoing a series of routine training sessions since the beginning of the month, focusing on game organization, quick transitions, and physical endurance.
This demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining consistent performance ahead of their departure to Thailand.
Through increasingly thorough preparation, Estrella is optimistic that their target of reaching the semifinals can be achieved. If the players can maintain tactical discipline and a winning mentality in every match, Indonesia has a chance to achieve something beyond its target.
Meanwhile, at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, the Indonesian women’s national futsal team is in a group with Thailand, Cambodia, and Singapore. Novita Murni and her teammates will play their first match against the host nation, then face Cambodia, and finally Singapore.
