iMSPORT.TV – SEA Games Thailand : Hector Souto Aims to Lead the Indonesian Futsal National Team to a Gold Medal at. Indonesian national futsal team coach, Hector Souto, is determined to build a strong foundation for the Garuda squad for two major upcoming events: the 2025 SEA Games and the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup.
The Spanish tactician aims to achieve this after a long and consistent process over several years.
Hector Souto always maintains a close relationship with his players and treats them like family.
He consistently encourages his players to look ahead and focus on capitalizing on every opportunity.
After competing against quality teams, the Indonesian futsal national team will now face even tougher challenges: the 2025 SEA Games and the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup.
The SEA Games will be held from December 3-20, 2025, with only five competing countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Indonesian national futsal team.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup will be held in Jakarta from January 27 to February 7, 2026.
Hector Souto is looking forward to these two major events. He stated that the 2025 SEA Games Thailand is one of the Indonesian national futsal team’s major missions.
Since futsal was introduced to Southeast Asia’s biggest sporting event, Indonesia has never won a gold medal, and that goal is now a top priority.
“We want to write a new history. Indonesia has been close to the final several times, but this time we want to go further.”
“We know Thailand and Vietnam are very strong, but we also have great potential.
“With thorough preparation, I’m confident we can compete for the gold medal,” Hector Souto told the media, including BolaSport com.
After the 2025 SEA Games, Hector Souto’s focus will shift to the 2026 Futsal Asia Cup, a prestigious event that brings together Asia’s elite teams.

He considers this tournament to be a true benchmark for the development of Indonesian futsal in Asia.
“In Asia, we have big teams like Iran, Japan, and Uzbekistan. But I don’t want the players to be afraid.”
“We have to learn to face them, not avoid them. Our target is to reach the quarterfinals first, then fight for a top-four finish.”
“That’s a realistic but ambitious target,” he stressed.
According to Hector, achieving this goal will not only improve Indonesia’s ranking in the AFC but also open up the opportunity to compete in the 2028 Futsal World Cup.
“If we can reach the top eight in Asia, that means we’re on the right track to world-class football.“
“But the key remains hard work, discipline, and program continuity. There are no shortcuts,” he said.
