Swimmer Adellia Wins Gold for Indonesia at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

iMSPORT.TV – Young Indonesian swimmer Adellia won the gold medal in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG), in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

This (gold medal) was truly a surprise and the most special birthday present for me,” said Adellia after winning the gold medal, according to a report from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Competing at the Riyadh Olympic Pool, Adellia put on an outstanding performance, clocking 2 minutes 32.24 seconds, beating Turkey’s Pinar Donmez (2:32.91 seconds) and Lebanon’s Lynn El Hajj (2:33.93 seconds).

This victory marked the first gold medal for the Indonesian swimming team at the 2025 ISG in Riyadh.

Adellia stated that from the start of the competition, she hadn’t targeted a medal due to her less-than-optimal physical condition. Furthermore, the two-hour journey to the competition venue was also a challenge.

The 21-year-old athlete was determined to enjoy the competition and give her best.

Adellia’s achievement complemented the positive results for the Indonesian swimming team, which previously won a silver medal in the mixed 4×100-meter medley relay, won by Farrel Armandio Tangkas, Muhammad Dwiky Raharjo, Azzahra Permatahani, and Nadia Aisha Nurazmi, who recorded a time of 4:03.53 seconds, and a bronze medal won by Flairene Candrea in the women’s 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1 minute 4.20 seconds.

Indonesian Swimming Team head coach Albert Christiandi Sutanto explained that before the competition, Adellia demonstrated mental readiness and confidence in her ability to compete.

Adellia’s success, he said, was a pleasant surprise, as they had been predicting Flairene to win gold.

But Adellia performed very calmly and confidently. This is the result of her hard work and consistency throughout the national training,” he said.

Sutanto explained that Adellia had shown great potential since the 100-meter breaststroke, but it was just a matter of bad luck.

He added that this achievement demonstrated her extraordinary performance and was a positive sign for the SEA Games and future major events.
