iMSPORT.TV – Chef de Mission (CdM) for the 2025 SEA Games, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, believes there will be a best solution to overcome the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ (Kemenpora) budget shortfall for Indonesia’s participation in the SEA Games in Thailand next December.
“We fully trust the Ministry of Youth and Sports because that’s their domain,” Bayu told reporters while inspecting the National Training Center of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) at the Indonesian Pencak Silat Padepokan, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The budget shortfall was addressed by Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir, who stated that the budget allocation for the 2025 SEA Games was only Rp 10 billion.
With the existing budget, Indonesia could only send 200 athletes, significantly lower than the average 700-900 athletes sent to previous SEA Games.
Rick continues to seek additional funding through coordination with the Minister of Finance to synchronize the budget over the next three months.
CdM Confident There’s a Best Solution to Overcome SEA Games Budget Shortfall

The Minister of Finance has signaled positive support for the budget, but has yet to announce an additional budget for the SEA Games.
Bayu explained that budget support is the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but he believes there will be a solution to the situation so that Indonesia can compete smoothly in the SEA Games.
Bayu said the CdM team is focused on supporting the Indonesian contingent.
One step is to visit directly to monitor preparations for the sports, starting with pencak silat.
Pencak silat is the first target of the visit because it is an Indonesian sport that is part of the nation’s identity.
Further visits will be made to other sports to ensure the readiness of athletes and coaches to achieve their goals in Thailand.
